It’s been a busy past few weeks for The Scottish Coastal Clean Up who have been busy trying to clear away the huge amounts of debris that washed up after the recent stormy weather. One of the main issues the team have been dealing with is the many creels (lobster pots) that have washed ashore. They have been finding large tangles of creels all along the east Lothian coast and have been lucky enough to have use of a Hagglund vehicle to help shift the biggest piles. The team have been trying to reunite any salvageable creels with their owners and build up a map of where all the washed-up creels are. The map will be shared with the local Rangers, fishers and landowners and to hopefully make it easier to coordinate efforts to remove them all over time.
