CITTADINI PER I’ARIA

Cittadini per l’Aria are citizens who have chosen to commit themselves to defending the right to breathe clean air.

Air quality is not a negotiable good, because it is about our own life. The damage that today exists, affecting the population and the environment is, in fact, incalculable. The team work to share data and information, promote virtuous behaviours, propose effective strategies and solutions, urging public administrations and businesses to really change.

The team are on a mission to create a world in which communities share responsibilities and avoid activities that can worsen the quality of the air we breathe, reducing the negative impacts and with it the damage to the health of people and the environment in which we live.
To realise this vision the team have an extensive community of active people and organisations supporting this cause. We believe that Citizens for the Air has something special to offer: to make available perspectives, solutions and strategies that are based on scientific evidence. To give citizens the opportunity to make and demand informed choices, to associations to share tools and join forces, to public administrations and businesses to change their approach to the issue of air quality.

Goals:

  • Build a network and a cross-cutting community that puts many individuals, entities and legal entities, in a position to contribute to improving air quality at local, national, European level.
  • Collaborate in regulatory and standardisation processes, supporting citizen participation in identifying the best policies for improving air quality, demanding the implementation of the principles of transparency, access and environmental participation guaranteed by the Aarhus Convention.
  • Evaluate and monitor policies at national and, where possible, local level, promote and support national initiatives and European networks in support of policies for the improvement and conservation of air quality.
  • Support in the court for good policies for air, so that the right to breathe clean air and to actions that are consistent with this right is recognised.
