OCEAN PLEDGE
Ocean Pledge NPC is a registered grassroots initiative focusing on the critical gap between action and awareness when it comes to single-use plastic in the sea.
Ocean Pledge harnesses possibilities and opportunities to build back better. Through targeted educational programmes and community initiatives, they empower the youth to inspire real change.
Their pillars are based on education (a mentorship programme focussed on upskilling and empowering marginalised youth and students), research and the design and implementation of solution-focussed programs.
Current Programmes: #VoiceoftheOceans ambassador course:
The Ocean Pledge Ambassadors programme aims to equip, educate and empower a growing network of youth with the learnings and tools to become change-makers and next generation ambassadors for positive change.
To nurture that powerful voice, we teach communication and leadership skills which are cultivated through practical experience, while exposure to thought leaders in marine conservation provide both an ocean- oriented edge as well providing insights into future careers in marine conservation.
Their programme focuses on students 15-18 years of age, sourcing students from Model C (government) schools and marginalised communities.
Post-graduation students are encouraged to devise, plan and implement a community-based project. Willing students are invited to join their ambassador’s network for further mentoring while helping to deliver crucial information to schools, communities and at events.
