A Plastic Planet’s work on the plastic crisis

A Plastic Planet’s work on the plastic crisis focuses on the ‘cattle prod’ of policy and law and the ‘lightening rod’ of material innovation. The UN Ocean Conference in Nice saw some positive movement on ocean protection with cofounders Sian Sutherland and Frederikke Magnussen both attending several sessions on plastics, deep sea mining and illegal trading of endangered marine species.

During London Climate Action Week, A Plastic Planet built PlasticFreeLand at BlueEarth Forum in Shoreditch.  PlasticFreeLand is  a major installation of scalable, viable solutions that prove that we can make the products we love from sneakers to sequins, packaging to textiles and pigments without toxic indestructible fossil-fuel plastic.  Sian Sutherland hosted a 2 hour session to a room filled with investors, innovators and industry – Truth, Risk, Opportunity, Solutions – Why the Plastic Crisis is the gateway to a Thriving Healthier World – championing 10 brands and materials of our incredible future, a future that is possible today.
